If Not Now, When?
Fitness-After-50 - Thomas D. Manfredi, Publisher
1) Editor's Note
Hi,
In last month's newsletter, I mentioned that I would be announcing the beginning of my on line coaching service to my regular readers first. I decided to make the announcement a separate issue apart from the monthly newsletter.
So, here it is. As a subscriber to my newsletter I am informing you of my new on line coaching service, which is available to you immediately. I will put links to this service on my web site in about 7 – 10 days.
The reason I'm letting you know early is because I will only be accepting a limited number of people to coach so I can give each of them the attention they deserve. As a loyal reader, I wanted to give you a chance to be one of the first to sign up.
I've included a short article below with several links to my new site.
Do you like the information and advice that I give you at my site and in my monthly news letters? Would you like to receive similar information, advice, and guidance that is customized specifically to your own personal needs and situation? If you answered “yes” to these questions, then you should check out my on line coaching services at my coaching site*.
For those of you who have ever looked into the possibility of hiring a personal trainer to work with you, I'm sure you can attest to the fact that personal training can get very expensive. Fees of $50 to $150 per hour are common, depending on the trainer's educational level and experience. And, most trainers recommend that you meet with them at least 2 - 3 times per week. If you're like me, a weekly expenditure of $100 - $450 is a lot of money.
On line coaching gives you most of the benefits of a personal trainer at a fraction of the cost. The monthly charge for an on line coach is usually what a personal trainer charges for one hour. You do have to take on more personal responsibility for following your plans when you don't have to meet with a trainer at a specific time and place, but eventually you'll have to do that anyway. Ultimately, only you are responsible for starting and continuing with your health and fitness plans.
Research shows that over 50% of people in the U.S. who start exercising for fitness will stop in less than 6 months. What this means to you is that you need someone to help guide you and keep you motivated until you get over that "hump" and have enough knowledge, success and motivation to keep you going on your own. I'm no mathematician, but a personal trainer, even for only 2 hours per week for 6 months, would cost you a minimum of $2,600. Using my on line coaching services for 6 months will cost you as little as 15% of that. The fees and plans are outlined under the section labeled "Sign Up Now!" at my coaching site*
My advice as a fitness coach is that a person should take advantage of professional, outside guidance and motivation for at least 6 months. I actually design my plans that way. Why? I feel that by working with me for that period of time we can make sure that you have established good, solid habits that will allow you to continue to be successful on your own. As a professional adult educator, I know that even with the best of intentions, human beings will start letting things slide until they are back to their old habits. They need someone to keep guiding and motivating them. Once they have had enough time to experience ongoing, measurable success; then they will be motivated to continue on their own. Unfortunately, exercise and good eating are two areas where most of us need an exceptional amount of continued guidance and motivation to go it alone and have long term success.
If you are really serious about making the changes needed for you to follow a healthy lifestyle, I encourage you to go to my coaching site* and check things out. I'm confident that you will find what I offer will go a long way toward helping you meet your health and fitness goals without requiring you to take on another job to pay for them.
To reiterate, here are some of the benefits that can be attained using on line coaching:
